Mixes on repeat this week: August 10, 2026
Mac Declos

Where most techno reaches for menace, Mac Declos reaches for ecstasy. The Paris DJ keeps the aggression in the groove and the seduction dark, then runs it all on the soul of a house record, funk and swagger right on the surface. Sultry vocals whisper in your ear, and before long you are dancing like you know you look good.
Before the Curfew is Standard Deviation's record of nights at K41 in Kyiv through the full-scale war, and of what the Ukrainian scene sounds like under it. This is the most recent entry, two hours of Mac Declos at his most soulful and funky.
Before the Curfew 33, K41 KyivTemudo

Temudo is João Rodrigues, and his records carry a signature you learn to recognise fast, a motif built entirely out of friction. The Portuguese producer keeps techno's soul and wraps a clinical, unorthodox method around it, gritty and futuristic in the same breath. Klockworks, Soma, Blueprint and Warm Up all put it out. He co-founded Hayes and masters records at Tema.
This came from ANTIDOTE, an anti-war fundraiser at Tillatec in Amsterdam in May. Ninety minutes of him mixing fast across eras, one decade into the next, holding together the whole way.
ANTIDOTE, Tillatec (May 2026)Bailey Ibbs

Bailey Ibbs plays hypnotic techno with the funk left in, UK garage running underneath, warm and faintly nostalgic at the darker end of UK rave. The Derbyshire-born, London-based DJ releases on Token, SLAM and KiNK and runs Night Service. He first walked into Tresor as a punter in 2018 and holds a residency there now.
This is two hours from Unfold at Fold in London, and he spends them throwing curveballs. Whatever genre he is working in, the groove drives it and the floor feels it.
Unfold @ Fold, London (Jul 2026)Hashashin

Hashashin plays high-energy techno built on deep rolling basslines and up-tempo hypnotic sounds, raw in the intensity and careful in the selection. He has been part of Amsterdam's underground since 2006, a fixture at AURA and Radion, the kind of selector a city hands all-night slots to because he can hold them. The name comes from his Arabic roots.
His Hotcast for Heisss in Berlin runs ninety minutes. It is the closest you get to his taste without standing in the room.
HEISSS Hotcast 075Setaoc Mass

Setaoc Mass makes sleek, hypnotic techno out of very little. The Mancunian, in Berlin since 2013, gets his impact from a handful of elements, each placed with intent, and pulls the rest from IDM and experimental electronics. He runs SK_Eleven and SK_X, and all the precision serves how it feels.
Dreaming Festival is Medellín's open-air celebration of underground techno, built to play as one long continuous stretch. He works with real precision and builds something you can sink into, and it stays danceable the whole way through.
Dreaming Festival, Medellín (2026)Sources
Mac Declos (Paris; he/him) — https://www.awakenings.com/en/artists/mac-declos/361880/ + https://www.numeronetherlands.com/in-conversation-with/in-conversation-with-mac-declos + the set's own SoundCloud description, verbatim: - (a) Base: Awakenings, verbatim: "a French, Paris-based artist, DJ, and producer of electronic music." - (c) OWNER-ATTESTED: the sound of this set (Shiwei, 2026-08-11, after listening). His palette: techno's percussion and groove carrying the soul of house music, funk, swagger, groovy, elastic, swing, bounce, playful, kinetic and fast, and soft vocals that are sexual and tease the ears. Explicitly not aggressive, not dark or sinister. On-slide as "takes the percussion and drive of techno and gives it the soul of a house record," "plays with funk and swagger, keeps his grooves elastic," and "slips soft vocals over the top, breathy and seductive, close enough to feel meant for you." Two earlier drafts of this clause were rejected: "frankly sexual and tease at the ear" (the hedge "frankly" apologised for the word after it), then "breathy and sexual" ("sexual" reads clinical; "seductive" carries the same charge with warmth — Shiwei, 2026-08-11). Corroborated rather than resting on attestation: Awakenings independently credits him with the ability to "blend mental and physical grooves with such finesse" and "a fearless curiosity and genre-fluid approach," which is the same picture from a fetched source.
Temudo (João Rodrigues; Portugal; he/him) — https://www.somarecords.com/artists/temudo/ + press/label copy supplied by Shiwei 2026-08-11 + the set's own SoundCloud description, verbatim: - (a) Name + nationality: Soma Records, verbatim: "Portuguese artist Joao Rodrigues" who "started his alias Temudo in 2014, after a period in the Drum and Bass scene." - (b) The signature motif (p1 opener): supplied press copy, verbatim: "Temudo's music is characterised by gritty, futuristic sounds, with a signature motif resembling a rusty crank pounding into a brick wall." → on-slide as "a motif built entirely out of friction." - The crank-and-brick simile was abandoned, not reworded. An intermediate draft read "a grinding figure like a crank forced against brick", and a further seven alternatives were offered (seized crank / rusted crank chewing / metal at masonry and so on). All of them were lateral moves inside the source's own picture rather than better lines, and Shiwei rejected the set. The fix was to stop reaching for a simile and name what the sound is. Worth remembering as a pattern: when every rewrite of a borrowed image feels flat, the image itself is the problem. - The substitution forced one more change. The sentence opened "his records carry a motif you learn to recognise fast", which would have repeated the noun four words before "a motif built entirely out of friction". First instance became signature. - (b) Soul plus method: supplied copy, verbatim across several blurbs: "His music allies the soul of the genre with a modern methodology" · "blending the soul of the genre with a modern and unorthodox methodology" · "His interpretation of the genre is made through a clinical approach." → paraphrased as "keeps techno's soul and wraps a clinical, unorthodox method around it." - (a/b) Labels: Soma lists "Klockworks, Soma, Modularz, Mord or Clergy"; the supplied copy lists "Klockworks, Blueprint, Soma, and Warm Up." The slide names the four that appear across both. - (b) Hayes + Tema Mastering: supplied copy, verbatim: "He is one of the minds behind Hayes and runs his own mastering studio: Tema Mastering." - (a) The set: ANTIDOTE's own description, verbatim: "This is the recording of Temudo during the ANTIDOTE Anti-War Fundraiser at TILLATEC, Amsterdam on Sunday 17.05.26." SoundCloud duration = 89.7 min → "ninety minutes." - (b) DJ style (p2): supplied copy, verbatim: "As a DJ, he delivers fast-paced, eclectic sets that seamlessly mix tracks from different eras" and "a fast paced eclectic journey with music from different time frames mixed in an coherent and elegant way." → paraphrased as "mixing fast across eras, one decade into the next, holding together the whole way."
Bailey Ibbs (Derbyshire-born, London-based; he/him) — https://seven.berlin/artist/bailey-ibbs/ + his own SoundCloud profile + press/interview copy supplied by Shiwei 2026-08-11, verbatim: - (a) Origin + base: SEVEN Berlin, verbatim: "a DJ and Producer from Derbyshire, UK now living in London." - (b) Sound: supplied copy, verbatim: "Best known for his distinctly 'funky' strain of hypnotic techno" · "although carrying a prominent UKG flare, often sits in the middle of the spectrum of darker UK rave music" · "Warm nostalgia floats through both Bailey Ibbs' production and mixes." → paraphrased as "hypnotic techno with the funk left in, UK garage running underneath, warm and faintly nostalgic at the darker end of UK rave." - (a/b) Labels + Night Service: SEVEN Berlin gives the Volta EP breakthrough (2022), releases on "KiNK, Token, Frenzy, and SLAM", and his own imprint Night Service. His SoundCloud bio corroborates: "DJ/Producer / Night Service Co-Founder / Tresor Resident." - (b) Tresor, and the full-circle story (p1 close): his own words, supplied verbatim: "Being a resident at Tresor is honestly the biggest honour. This is the club with the deepest history in Techno, the one that's remained closest to the roots in Detroit, and they've trusted me with that legacy. I can't overstate what that means to me. Tresor was actually the first techno club I ever went to back in 2018, so there's this full-circle moment to it all. Walking into that space as a punter for the first time absolutely changed my perspective on what techno could be and what club culture meant." → the slide keeps only the fact with a shape: "He first walked into Tresor as a punter in 2018 and holds a residency there now." None of his phrasing is used. This replaced an earlier résumé line ("Tresor made him a resident in 2024"), which stated the same residency with none of the story. - (b) The set (p2): supplied copy, verbatim: "he's equally admired for his willingness to throw curveballs, whether that's house, garage, or something altogether unexpected, without ever breaking the flow of the room" and "His productions span from several genres, always marked by driving energy, groove, and a distinct dancefloor pull." → on-slide as "he spends them throwing curveballs. Whatever genre he is working in, the groove drives it and the floor feels it." - The second source sentence had three problems that recur in press copy and were all fixed in the reword: "driving energy, groove, and a distinct dancefloor pull" is a three-item list (the rule-of-three tell); "always marked by" is passive and holds the qualities at arm's length from him; "a distinct dancefloor pull" is a claim every dance record makes. The slide names the floor itself instead. - The source's "without ever breaking the flow of the room" is litotes. The slide asserts it positively. - An intermediate p2 draft ended "A garage cut, a breakbeat, something you did not see coming, and the floor follows every turn"
Hashashin (Amsterdam; he/him) — https://www.wanted-wax.com/curated-by-hashashin/ + press copy supplied by Shiwei 2026-08-11 + the HEISSS episode page + our own prod event data, verbatim: - (a) Amsterdam since 2006, collectives: Wanted Wax, verbatim: "Hashashin is one of the most respected names to emerge from Amsterdam's underground," "Active since 2006," and a fixture within "collectives like AURA Amsterdam, Bastion Techno, and RADION Amsterdam." The supplied copy corroborates the collectives and adds "With over a decade of experience behind the decks." The slide keeps 2006 rather than the vaguer "over a decade", since the fetched source is more specific and the two do not conflict. - (b) Sound: supplied copy, verbatim: "He is known for his high energy sets, mixing deep rolling baselines with up tempo hypnotic sounds" and "Hashashin's approach blends raw intensity with refined selection." → paraphrased as "high-energy techno built on deep rolling basslines and up-tempo hypnotic sounds, raw in the intensity and careful in the selection." - (b) The name: supplied copy, verbatim: "The name Hashashin represents his Arabic roots." → on-slide as "The name comes from his Arabic roots." Nothing beyond this is claimed. The historical Hashashin order and the assassin etymology are deliberately untouched, because the source does not raise them. - (a, our own data) All-night slots: prod events for 5488128f… include "AURA - Hashashin All Night" (Radion, 2025-12-06) and "ROTE8 EVENTS: Hashashin [4 HR SET]" (2026-02-06). - (a) The set: HEISSS Hotcast 075; SoundCloud duration = 86.1 min → "ninety minutes". - (c) "the closest you get to his taste without standing in the room" — our characterization of a podcast mix. No claim about the music itself, because nobody here has heard it.
Setaoc Mass (Sam Coates; Manchester-born, Berlin-based; he/him) — https://www.awakenings.com/en/artists/setaoc-mass/12057/ + https://www.technoairlines.com/festival/dreaming-festival-medellin-colombia-2026 + the festival's own SoundCloud channel + press copy supplied by Shiwei 2026-08-11, verbatim: - (a) Real name, origin, base: Awakenings, verbatim: "Setaoc Mass is Sam Coates, an artist born in Manchester, long-since based in Berlin," having "relocated to Berlin in 2013." - (b) Economy of means (p1 spine): supplied copy, verbatim: "His productions and sets are marked by a carefully attuned economy of means, getting the most impact out of a handful of expertly crafted elements." → paraphrased as "makes sleek, hypnotic techno out of very little… gets his impact from a handful of elements, each placed with intent." - (b) Precision serving feeling: supplied copy, verbatim: "But that doesn't mean he's fussy. Setaoc Mass' technical acumen is always in service of pure emotion and embodied experience." → paraphrased as "all the precision serves how it feels." - (b) Sound + reach: supplied copy, verbatim: "sleek, hypnotic and ultra-refined - rooted in techno but reaching deep into IDM and experimental electronics." Awakenings corroborates independently: "rooted as much in techno as it is in IDM, electro and experimental music." - (a) Labels: Awakenings gives SKEleven (2015, named after his home postal code) and its expansion into SKX; the supplied copy names both. - (a) The festival (p2 opener): its own SoundCloud channel, verbatim: "Dreaming Festival es un festival de música electrónica creado para celebrar la cultura underground y lo mejor del techno y el house." Techno Airlines adds the specifics: Medellín, Colombia, 27 June 2026, open-air and multi-stage, "underground electronic music, with a strong emphasis on techno in its many forms", and structured "as a continuous experience built around immersion and musical storytelling" across outdoor spaces in the city. → paraphrased as "Medellín's open-air celebration of underground techno, built to play as one long continuous stretch." - (b) What the set does (p2 close): supplied copy, verbatim: "His sets move with intelligence and precision, building immersive worlds that reward close listening without sacrificing dancefloor impact." → reworded as "He works with real precision and builds something you can sink into, and it stays danceable the whole way through." Note the source's own "without sacrificing dancefloor impact" is litotes; the slide states the both/and positively. - (c) The fit is reasoning, not observation. Nobody here has heard this set. p2 connects two verified facts, the festival's continuous-immersion design and his verified economy-and-precision approach, and says they suit each other. It makes no claim about what he actually played. That distinction is the one the Hashashin slide got wrong earlier today.
